MONTESSORI ACTIVITIES REACHING THE BORDER Our tiny tots dressed as honeybees crossed all hurdles in a race to reach the border. The children showed great sportsmanship and cheered for their buddies with lot of enthusiasm. TOY DONATION To spread joy and brighten the faces of little ones, Bal Bharatians collected old toys and donated them to a Toy Bank for the underprivileged children. The aim was to convey a message of hope and ensuring that the needy children have the joyful experiences that every child deserves. TONGUE TICKLERS In order to encourage healthy eating habits, students were taught to prepare Spicy Corn Salad, Crunchy Sprouts and Fruit Salads. Our budding chefs participated in the activity with lot of enthusiasm and displayed their culinary skills. SWACHH ABHIYAN Children are the real champions for the cause of cleanliness and hygiene. They participated in following activities during Swachh Abhiyan : Trash into flash Compost Making Cleanliness Crusade The initiative aimed at creating awareness among our young Indians to maintain hygiene and cleanliness all around. HAMARI DAROHAR Students displayed patriotic fervour during soulful rendition of patriotic songs. Each one of them sang with immense zeal, evoking the feeling of patriotism in all present. The synchronization of the melodious voices and instruments was quite appreciable. JOY OF SHARING Children brought their favourite food and shared it with their friends to foster a feeling of caring and sharing among them. It was sheer joy to see children sharing and making each other feel happy and cared. WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY Our young ECO AMBASSADORS planted saplings and went for a nature trail. They explored various ways to save environment on the occasion of World Environment Day. They also raised slogans and displayed posters regarding different environmental issues. BARBIE & KEN FANCY SHOW During Barbie & Ken Show, children made their debut on stage dressed as Barbies and Ken who were very confident and expressive. The little ones displayed their vibrant costumes. It was indeed a fascinating event which would be etched in our memories for a very long time. GOURMET GURU The students prepared sprout salad along with their favourite summer chillers in anticipation of long summers. In was an amazing treat to the taste buds and high in nutrition as well. Our students learnt the concept of healthy living in a fun-filled way. KIDZANIA School is a microcosm of world around us. It was reflected in the workstations simulating the real world scenario in Montessori department. Our little thoroughly enjoyed their most favourite time of the day. 'Familiae Amore' "When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves" It is a well known fact that ‘Family’ is a bond and a long lasting relationship that holds its members together with the thread of love. To sow the seeds of the importance of family, early in children’s lives, ’Familiae Amore’ (International family week) was organized from 18.7.16 - 21.7.16. The exciting week commenced with an enjoyable and creative craft activity-’Little architects’. Our tiny tots created beautiful houses with colourful ice cream sticks and cut outs of bricks, doors, grass etc. They also played a fun game-Who helps? .On the second day, our little ones enjoyed –Movie time by watching a movie- ‘An adorable family’ that conveyed a meaningful message of care and concern among family members. On the third day, children came dressed up as their favourite family members and participated in a role play session and had a gala time followed by a fun activity-(Play dough family). The week ended with a dramatic play and a fun craft-'Designing photo frames. 'Children created wonderful photo frames and enthusiastically pasted their family photographs to seal the memories of the special week. I CAN DRAW A PATTERN Out of all mental skills, Pattern recognition is said to have the highest correlation with general intelligence. The ability to recognize, identify and create patterns not only supports mathematical learning but also develops pre writing readiness skills. Moreover children are able to make predictions about what should come next. To make children aware of different patterns, I can draw a pattern (Pattern making competition) was organized on July 27, 2016 for PPI and PPII. Children participated with zeal and enthusiasm .Children enjoyed tracing different patterns with crayons. STAGE IS ALL MINE STAGE IS ALL MINE activity is conducted on February 15, 2016 in which little actors, dressed up in flamboyant costumes, entertained the audience with well dramatized rhymes. GRATITUDE DAY Gratitude day was celebrated on February 12, 2016. Students designed beautiful cards for their parents to express their gratitude and love. BHELPURI POPS Children enjoyed making Chatpati Bhelpuri on Januray 29, 2016 for themselves and their friends while leaning about its nutritional value. PATRIOTIC PALLETE DAY PATRIOTIC PALLETE DAY was celebrated on January 25, 2016. Montessori children displayed patriotic colours on balloons, kites, flags and tri-colour sandwiches. HEALTH FOOD FUN On January 22, 2016 students prepared Corn Salad and shared it with their friends during health food fun session. TICKLES & TALES “Even though you are growing up, you should never stop having fun” There is no better way to celebrate and enjoy childhood than to allow our children to do what they do best, play and have fun . Keeping this in mind , a puppet show was organized for Pre Primary I and II children on April 13,2016 in Multipurpose Hall. The event was a fun way of virtually exploring different shades of behaviour through puppets. The entertaining show evoked incredible response from children and they participated enthusiastically and enriched themselves. INETRNATIONAL STORYTELLING FESTIVAL Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts hosted an International Storytelling Festival from February 5-February 7, 2016 in collaboration with the British Council and Nivesh- an NGO. Some eminent storytellers from India and abroad (Ms. Emily Hennessey, Mr. Giles Abbott and Mr. Tim Ralphs) performed at the festival. It featured stories from epics, historics, social themes and so on. A Theatre Workshop at British Council was conducted on February 8, 2016 by an acclaimed storyteller- Mr. Giles Abbott The workshop aimed at shaping real life experiences into stories and present them to an audience. It provided opportunities for self-expression, building suspense and interest and also encouraged cognitive skills. Some breathing techniques and voice exercises were also demonstrated to relax and narrate long stories. Spring Treasure Hunt "Spring is when life's alive in everything" Spring is here and children simply love treasure hunts. To keep their hands and minds engaged in a creative outdoor exploration, an adventurous fun game-'Spring Treasure Hunt' was organized. Our explorers had a great time running around and finding hidden spring related objects such as ladybirds, honeybees, caterpillars, a variety of colourful flowers and so on. It proved to be a perfect fun-filled outdoor activity to enjoy in the lap of nature on a lovely spring day. DIWALI FIESTA Happiness is in the air It is Diwali everywhere. Let’s show some love and care, And celebrate a cracker free Diwali. Festivals are meant for happiness, spreading smiles and cherishing relationships. To celebrate the festivals of lights, DIWALI FIESTA- a community lunch was organized on November 3, 2015 to imbibe the values of sharing and caring. The lunch was followed by a dazzling dance party which was thoroughly enjoyed by our little ones. HALLOWEEN PARTY When witches go riding, And black cats are seen the moon laughs and whispers, ‘this mean Halloween’ Halloween is an international festival, which has a special significance for our tiny tots as it is the time for them to break inhibitions, melt geographical boundaries and learn to celebrate as global citizens. Keeping this in mind “HALLOWEEN PARTY" was organized on November 2, 2015. Our little darlings of Montessori celebrated Halloween to honour the souls of the dead and also to remove the fear of ghosts among children. The children came dressed up as devils and witches with devil horn hair band. Dark caves with scary skeletons, pumpkins, fearful masks and the shrieking noise of ghosts, evoked thrills among the visitors. They danced on ghostbuster, scary pumpkin and happy Halloween songs. Eveyone was thrilled to see their energy. The day came to an end by making pumpkin badges. All the chlildren indeed had lots of fun and took home many unforgettable memories with them. YOGA WORKS “Yoga is the journey of the self…to the self….through the self” We are all aware of the fact that yoga provides relief from countless ailments at physical as well as mental level. To motivate our little learners to adopt a healthy lifestyle, an activity “Yoga Works” was organized on 14 October 2015. Our budding athletes had a gala time participating in an innovative ‘Laughter Race’. They also benefitted by some simple and interesting Yoga aasans done in their respective classrooms. MONACO PIZZERIA To develop interest in food preparation in a creative way, our little chefs tried their hands on mouth-watering biscuity pizzeria, by putting chopped capsicum and tomatoes along with the grated cheese and cottage cheese to make it more healthy and delicious. The activity brought a smile on the faces of our little master chefs when they relished eating healthy pizza which was their own creation. TEACHER'S DAY and MADAM MARIA MONTESSORI DAY To pay tribute and express our gratitude to our Mentor - Madam Maria Montessori and to celebrate the birth anniversary of our second President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan - Teacher's Day was celebrated on 1.09.15 with great enthusiasm. The cake cutting ceremony was a special attraction followed by a dance presentation on "You have made the difference and You pick me up" which was enjoyed and applauded by everyone. Children dressed up as Madam Maria Montessori and Dr. Radhakrishnan presented inspirational speeches as well. NAND KISHORE MAAKHANCHOR ACTIVITY Life is a celebration and festival is a tool to bring life to a state of exuberance & enthusiasm. In order to mark the importance of Janamashtami festival and to unleash the creative skills of our tiny tots, an art & craft activity Nand Kishore - Maakhanchor of decorating Krishna’s favourite instrument (Flute) was organized on September 03, 2015. Children decorated beautiful flute with their artistic hands. The meaning of Janamashtami festival was well explained through this activity. JANMASHTAMI CELEBRATION “Our own endeavours can only take us to a certain level but ultimate goal will be attained only by the mercy of Lord Krishna.” To celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna , a special morning assembly was organized by students of Mont-1B . Children explained Geeta Sar- Quotes from Bhagwat Geeta . Children came dressed up as Gopi, Gwala as well as Shri Krishna ji and Radha ji and presented a dance performance. This was followed by Aarti of Shri Krishna by Headmistress ma’am and all the Montessori teachers. Children were told about the importance of this festival and how all the temples are decorated to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. RAKHI CELEBRATION "RAKHI IS A SYMBOL OF UNIQUE RELATION... THAT BINDS A BROTHER AND SISTER TOGETHER ". Festivals are meant for happiness, spreading smiles and cherishing relationships and one such festival is Rakshabandhan. To affirm this bond Rakshabandhan - A bond of togetherness activity was organised on August 28,2015. Our little champs brought material such as satin ribbon, smiley stickers to decorate their own rakhis. They were guided by the teachers to make beautiful rakhi. They were also shown a short movie and were told about the importance of this festival. Children throughly enjoyed this activity. PYJAMA PARTY There is no better way to celebrate childhood than to allow our children to do what they do best,play and have fun. To make our children have fun in their funky pyjamas, a pyjama party was organized in which our tiny tots came dressed up in their favourite pyjamas and nightwears along with the pillows. They enjoyed dancing, had pillow fight with their friends .They also decorated their own pyjamas with paper tearing and pasting activity. It was indeed a memorable day for our little ones. MY MOM MY WORLD You are the embodiment of love, You are like boon from above. Like you there's no other, You are only one, You're my mother. To express gratitude and affection towards motherhood and to make children realize the role of a mother in their lives, "My Mom My World" activity was organized for our young Bal Bharatians on July 22, 2015. Mother's day was celebrated with great enthusiasm children lovingly made cards to showcase their gratitude and affection for the unconditional love they get from their mothers. Children were encouraged to say thanks to their lovely mothers because they do everything for us to keep us happy. Our children took home, the token of love in the form of card they made for their adorable mothers. DESIGNER CUP CAKES To develop interest for the food preparation in a creative way, our little chefs tried their hands on mouth watering cakes. They decorated small cup cakes creatively using jam and colourful chocolate candies. The activity brought a smile on the faces of our little ones as they relished their cup cake creations. ICY TREAT Students were happy to learn about the nutritional benefits of milk products while enjoying ice-cream on Icy Treat Day. MY FANTASY LAND A fancy dress competition ‘My Fantasy Land’ saw myriad hues of fantasy of young Montessori kids who had adorned costumes of fairy tale characters. VISIT TO FRUIT AND VEGETABLE MART 'Carrots ,Peas and Broccoli... Apples, Mamgoes are good for me! For my snack and in my lunch.... Fruits and veggies are great to munch.' As we all know that a nutritious diet rich in fruits and vegetables not only gives us a healthy lifestyle but also helps in combating with various health problems. Keeping this in mind, a visit to fruit & vegetable mart (safal store) was organised for our little champs on May 6,2015 (Mont I) & May 7, 2015 (Mont II). Children got an opportunity to see a vegetable mart and real vegetables and fruits. They were shown various vegetables & fruits and were also told about their characteristics. It was truly an enriching experience for them. KNOW THY SCHOOL "Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn" Know thy school was celebrated on 26 and 27 April, 2016. It was a special occasion to acquaint the little ones with the school. Children of Pre Primary I and II learnt a lot exploring their second home with an eventful tour to the Library , Medical , Music , Art , Dance rooms and Computer labs. Getting familiar with their home away from home was indeed a journey in itself for them. Children carried with them a small badge-‘ I know my school well’ to mark the day. LET’s GET ALONG Greeting is the basis of communication and it brings an exuberant smile on each face. To celebrate the happiness of socializing, a chain game of greeting and knowing each other- ‘Let’s get along’ was organized. Dressed up in white dress and sports shoes, children played a game of passing the ball and introduced themselves. The game helped in imbibing the virtues of friendship and getting along with each other. CHASE MAZE To hone fine psycho-motor skills a fun activity ‘Chase Maze’ was organized for Primary students. Children solved puzzles related to maps of India, while chasing each other in a maze. SAY NO TO PLASTIC In conscientious endeavour to educate students about the importance of a cleaner and healthier environment, students took out rally saying ‘No to Plastic’. THE YOUNG ROCKSTARS During Rockstar fancy dress competition our young Rockstars danced away to glory and emerged as confident superstars. HEALTH IS WEALTH Students from Primary wing participated in ‘Health Walk’. They also wrote inspiring slogans and cooked interesting healthy recipes. BAKERS DELIGHT Bakers Delight a Muffin Decorating Activity was organized for children of Montessori. SAY NO TO CRACKERS To involve our children in making the right life style choices, Say NO to Crackers- badge making activity was organised. EARTHEN LAMP DECORATION To usher in season of festivals, children decorated earthen lamps using paint, glitter and decorative mirrors. FOLKTALES OF INDIA Primary students enacted folktales of India and shared the age old wisdom handed from one generation to next. SPORT ON Big dreams of our little ones came true when they donned hats of celebrated sports stars and identified with their games and achievement during ‘SPORT ON’ Fancy Dress Event. HAPPY HANDS Children loved dipping their hands in water colour and creating their hand impressions on papers. They sang the rhyme ‘five senses’ and enjoyed sand play and water play. LET’S HAVE A PARTY – DIWALI COMMUNITY LUNCH A community lunch was organised which was followed by a dance party in which children grooved with their friends. A VISIT TO PETROL PUMP To provide first-hand experience and to create awareness amongst our little learners, a visit to petrol pump was organized. Children were given an effective demonstration on the delivery of petrol to the tanks of vehicles and briefed about the display of the quality, quantity and cost of petrol. Our tiny tots were then shown underground tanks and fuel dispensers followed by a visit to convenient store. HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION ACTIVITIES Honeylicious delights were savoured by kids of Primary wing. They learnt about benefits of honey for health and concocted interesting recipes.
