SPACE CAMP KSC, NASA

A group of seven students accompanied by two teachers of school went on a nine days educational tour to Kennedy Space Centre, NASA, Orlando, USA. They were shown around Astronauts, Hall of Fame, rocket garden and launching pad, capsules of Mercury, Gemini and Apollo Shuttles. They were also exposed to environment & sensations of a real space shuttle launch as well as the vigorous training and acclimatisation schedules which astronauts went through. The group also visited Universal studio, Disney land and the American Museum of Natural History.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD

The crowning achievement which is a living testimony to our endeavours has been receiving of the prestigious International School Award 2010-13 instituted by the British Council. A coveted award, the ISA opens doors to the world, complete with challenges and rewards. The yearlong project saw many collaborative projects with schools in UK, New Zealand, Berut and Russia. The Principal as well as the ISA coordinator were felicitated at National Awards Ceremony at Chennai.

BRITISH COUNCIL SCHOOL AMBASSADOR

The School Principal has been recognized as (BCSA) British Council School Ambassador for promoting British Council school programs and projects.

As British Council School Ambassador, the school Principal has been invited to form a cluster of Bal Bharati Schools to partner with 10 UK schools for cultural and co-curricular exchange and reciprocal visit. Application for the same has been submitted on behalf of BBPS Units.

AUSTRALIA - INDIA PRINCIPALS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING PROGRAMME

The school Principal was invited to be a part of a select group of eight Principals from all over India chosen by the Australian High Commission for Australia–India Principals Leadership Programme at Melbourne and Sydney . The purpose of this programme was to chalk out new educational programmes and strategies which could be effectively disseminated among Australian and Indian Principals.

The school Vice-Principal Ms Kakkar was also invited to participate in the next round of Australia-India Principals’ Professional Learning Program-2010 at Melbourne with a focus on leadership, management, innovation, curriculum and assessment.


FACE TO FAITH PROGRAMME

To support exploration and exchange and to educate, about different faiths, the school had joined hands with Tony Blair Foundation. Taking the relationship a step further, we were privileged to assume the status of a lead school to initiate programs in schools which aim at developing respect and appreciation for various religions and faiths. Towards this end, we organized a workshop to train select Principals and teachers from prominent schools across the capital on conducting successful video conferencing sessions.

The year gone by also witnessed many successful video conferencing sessions, the more prominent ones being with the Westhoughton High School, U.K. and Kingsbridge College, U.K.

The students exchanged views on pertinent issues such as poverty, terrorism, faith and identity, fostering skills like collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem solving. The students responded intelligently to each other’s queries and reflected deeply.

MULTINATIONAL VIDEOCONFERENCE MARKS THE MALARIA DAY Bal Bharati Public School Dwarka in association with Tony Blair Faith Foundation U.K. participated in the Malaria Awareness Campaign. The school conducted a Face to Faith Malaria Day multi point videoconference session on May 5, 2011 with schools in India, UK and Australia. During the VC students shared their views about Malaria eradication with Guest Speaker Jo Yirell from Bedfordshire England, UK. BBPS, Dwarka has been spear-heading the Malaria Awareness Campaign and encourages students to contribute towards the campaign and donation of Malaria nets in Africa through Tony Blair Faith Foundation.


FAITH SHORTS(2011) The school participated in ‘Faith Shorts’ a film competition, to increase understanding between those of different religions and to open up access to filmmaking. Rajat Mishra (XI A) and Akshita Handa (XI B) won portable video camera for submitting story lines for the movies.


VIDEO CONFERENCE on AUGUST 25, 2011 Reaching yet another milestone in our incessant endeavours for providing global exposure and expression to our students, video conference with Sir Edmund’s College, Australia was held. Our children and their counterparts pondered over the international need for religious amity.

UN HUMAN RIGHTS DAY (VIDEO CONFERENCE) Video conference on UN Human Rights Day was organized by Tony Blair Face to Faith Foundation on December 9, 2011. The Special Guest Speaker was Dr Kiran Bedi. The VC was an attempt to create awareness about the importance of human rights. The key idea that came out was that Human Rights should be understood as part of relationship between self and others.

WORLD PANASONIC ROPE JUMP CONTEST

2010-11
Panasonic Kids School from Japan organized World Rope Jumping competition. This is an International event taking place in Japan, China, Vietnam, India, Canada, Brazil, Germany and Czechoslovakia. The top four countries met in Japan for the final round scheduled on March 21, 2010.

Another gold leaf was added in the scintillating history of Bal Bharati Public School, Dwarka, when the school reached the finals of Panasonic World Rope Jumping Competition in Tokyo, emerging at No 1 position amongst all competing schools of India. The world finals were held at the Big Sight Stadium in Tokyo on March 21, 2010. Emotions and excitement were writ large on faces of all the parents who were also sponsored by the organizers to cheer and support their children in their maiden journey to international acclaim. The school team made a mark for itself in the event by attaining at the second highest score among foreign teams.

2011-12
The legacy continues as our school team has once again qualified for the finals of the Rope Jump Championship 2011-12 held on December 20, 2010 at Indraprastha International School, Dwarka, emerging at number one position amongst the participating schools from all over India.

SCHOOL NEWSLETTER EXCHANGE

The E- Newsletter of the school, BBPS Mail, continues to make waves locally and globally. The exchange which was initiated with Carlton Digby School for special children has blossomed into a full bloom as expression of unbridled creativity of pupils and has reached shores of New Zealand, England and Lebanon.

The newsletter is available on school website as well as widely circulated among partner schools.

UN DAY FOR THE ELDERLY

The school celebrated UN Day for the Elderly on September 30, 2011. Several luminaries of the BBPS galaxy,Mr J C Ajmani, Mr S K Bhattacharya, Ms Rekha Sharma and Mr Suraj Prakash spared their valuable time for being a part of a very fruitful videoconferencing session followed by the panel discussion. Several grandparents enthusiastically participated in the discussion and deliberations mediated by Ms Simmi Kher, Coordinator India, Face To Faith. The session saw vivid exchange of perceptions between younger and older generation in search for solutions to some pressing concerns. The Principal expressed sanguine hope that grandparents are revered and loved as they were in the past.

VIDEO CONFERENCE WITH SERBIA

Taking a step forward in our endeavour for providing global exposure and expression to our students, video conference with a Primary School, Serbia was held. Prior to this conference both the schools had shared presentations about School, City and Country. The students were very enthusiastic and learnt various aspects about each others countries. Students of both the schools asked questions from each other about subjects they study, their hobbies, their favourite food, games they play etc.

Language Exchange With Turkish School

Students of BBPS were involved in a language exchange with Turkish school where students made attempts to learn salutation in each other’s language and improve their vocabulary. Most remarkable was their discovery of very similar words in Turkish and Hindi. Students from Yunus Emre Primary School, Turkey shared their newfound expertise in Hindi language skills with students in BBPS through Youtube clippings.
